Donations to Uplifting Thrifting are always greatly appreciated! Your donations help us help the community; profits from Uplifting Thrifting will go to support local (Upper Valley) children and families. I realize this mission is a little vague, so I want to explain: when I was thinking about who/what organization I wanted to give my profits to, I was torn between too many wonderful causes, so I left my mission intentionally vague so that I could help support many different causes and individual families that need it. In the near future, customers will see a board in my store with some different causes I am considering supporting that quarter and I will have a mechanism for customers (and donors!) to vote on which cause they would like to see supported. I will also have a suggestion box for customers to give me suggestions as well.
That being said, I wanted to make a couple of notations about donations:
Items we don't/can't take:
My store is not big enough to handle furniture unless it's a small piece of furniture. I can certainly make suggestions of local places that do accept furniture if needed.
Outdated and/or non-working electronics
Housewares (as of October 2024) - please consider donating to the Cover Store, just across the tracks and down Main St a few blocks!
VHS tapes
Used undergarments
Please be mindful that if you donate something that I cannot resell due to the condition, I will unfortunately have to pay to dispose of it, and that will directly impact the profits that I am hoping to give to local children and families. My employees and I will never be disrespectful about a donation, but we do reserve the right to dispose of it if it is not usable. I do have dollar racks that hold items that might have small imperfections but are otherwise very usable. If you have clothing that is not suitable for resale, please consider putting them in a bag marked "Rags" and bring to the Salvation Army for their clothing recycling program.
